Blogspot Defamation – What Can I Do?

This lawyer commented on a case involving me on his personal blogspot. His information is inaccurate and he makes a character assassination of me in his blog. When someone googles my name his link is on the fist page. People from my business gossip about me due to this internet post.
3 years ago I e-mailed the author about removing the post, no success.
Is there anything that can get done about this?

Blogspot is a common place for people to put defamation and false material. In your case, however, you have several issues that probably make this where not much you can do about it. 1) the article was written as statements of opinion which are certainly protected under free speech. 2) this material is way past any statute of limitations for defamation. Your best bet is to try and work with the blog owner to see if they will cooperate. Who knows, maybe a donation to their favorite charity may help them feel a little compassion.
